Founder & President

​

Dalena is a busy homeschool mom of six who believes in the exceptional opportunities of innovative educational models.  She has helped start and manage a homeschool coop as well as a hybrid microschool and enjoys meeting and supporting various educators and school founders in their efforts. 

Wichita Innovative Schools and Educators, (WISE), was formed from her effort to connect and encourage those who are offering outside the box options to serve families in the Wichita area.  She continues to raise awareness of the microschool movement and the diverse school models that are available for families to choose from.

Secretary

Katie is the Founder and Director of Green Gate Children's School. She has been a teacher and program director for the last 23 years. She has a BA degree in Child Development and Human Services from Fort Hays State University and has earned a graduate level certification in Literacy Intervention. She is also a community trainer for K.C.C.T.O and conducts workshops on a broad range of early childhood topics.​ Katie has been married to her husband, Stan, for 24 years, has two teenage daughters, two adorable pups, a cat, and three birds. She has a love for reading, nature, and simple living. She is passionate about creating alternative educational environments which inspire kids to explore their interests and direct their own learning.

Treasurer

In addition to serving as treasurer for WISE, Emmi owns and operates Loreto Learning, where she provides project and discussion-based classes to homeschoolers and microschools, online and in the Wichita area. Before starting Loreto Learning, she taught in the classroom for a decade. She is grateful  to have found a community of passionate educators outside of the traditional classroom, and she enjoys connecting with the hardworking people who are driven to expand quality education options for families.
